Have a care you don't put in with the losing side. And be doubly cautious no one gets the idea you're actually entertaining the rot Lamont and her lot are putting out.
I'm sure you're right about their lack of personnel. That's why she's fishing for us, isn't it?
Oh, and has she mentioned that she wants to be called 'Brodie' now?
It's like peeling an onion with her: she changes names and affiliations like it's nothing. First MLE, then Dogstar, and now Black's sorry lot. What? The Crimsons wouldn't have her?
She boasted at me that she joined MLE to bring it down from the inside, which-- right. Think she's been reading too many novels. Anyway, the obvious point is that whatever she says, it'll be a lie.
Perhaps. Though I'd have said her usual way of operating is to play friendly, rather than come over as someone keen to lord it over underlings. They're two different ways of manipulating people or controlling them.
Mostly, I think she's always fancied herself good at getting people to give themselves away. She sifts through what you say and what you leave out--it's why she's so well suited to malfeasance investigations. But the truth is, she's better sorting parchment than personalities: she's not as subtle as she thinks--when she pops up out of the blue after months, it's not hard to guess there's some reason for it.
See if you can play that back against her. Maybe you'll be able to get something useful out of her.
I told S she should write back and ask if instead of clemency, she could just have free passage to the school to make some photographs. Before they clean it all up.
That was the plan, Mr Rosier told me once. They'd send me to Ireland, once I was properly educated and trained, and let me manage things there. Pull things in line.

I don't think you should take it, do you?

I find Lamont and her newly acquired sense of superiourity quite entertaining indeed, don't you?
They must be mental or severely understaffed if they've made her head of their ramshackle MLE.

Tempted to toy with her, I am. Cos why not?
How's your sprog? Unscathed?

Date: 2015-05-21 06:48 am (UTC)Believe I shall play with her. Not too much, though. Just enough to make her think I might be nice, too.
You don't think Sarah will fall for her bollocks, do you?
Re: Private message to Lana S-P.
Date: 2015-05-21 06:55 am (UTC)Hasn't ever seen Sarah's work, has she?
Re: Private message to Lana S-P.
Date: 2015-05-21 07:00 am (UTC)Not her other forms of work, either, sounds like.
Re: Private message to Lana S-P.
Date: 2015-05-21 07:10 am (UTC)I never asked before, but why not? Did S carve you up at all? A bit of sculpting play?
Re: Private message to Lana S-P.
Date: 2015-05-21 01:13 pm (UTC)She made her mark on the topography, to be sure.
Course, she'll only say she made me prettier.

Date: 2015-05-21 04:07 am (UTC)I turned Neville Longbottom in to Auror Lestrange. Alice Longbottom isn't giving me amnesty, no matter what Rachel Lamont says.
Anyway I don't want to go back to them.
What did she say to you? Didn't you used to work for her?
Re: Private message to Seamus F.
Date: 2015-05-21 04:12 am (UTC)That's what she seems to think.
Now she wants me to work for her again. Funny, innit?
Where do you want to go, anyway?

Re: Private message to Seamus F.
Date: 2015-05-21 04:19 am (UTC)But you asked where I WANTED to go.
Re: Private message to Seamus F.
Date: 2015-05-21 04:23 am (UTC)Maybe I'd want to go if they told me I'd be a fancy-pants prince, too.
Where do you want to go that you could actually go?
Re: Private message to Seamus F.
Date: 2015-05-21 04:26 am (UTC)Cornwall, maybe. The seaside.
Why? You planning a holiday and looking for recommendations?
Re: Private message to Seamus F.
Date: 2015-05-21 04:31 am (UTC)Make yourself useful here, and it might pay off.
Or it might not.
Shame about Mr. R. Shame about Ireland. But we'll always have good old bloody Cornwall.
